3NF 2.0
Third Normal Form 2.0
Breaking news! It’s finally here, the long awaited new version of Third Normal Form. Third Normal Form 2.0.
3NF 2.0 is released by Eddie Adams and is his sole property if his. Any use of the methodology or teaching of such or material from this site must be compensated to Eddie Adamas.
The essentials
3NF 2.0
Third normal form 2.0 (3NF 2.0) is a database schema design approach for relational databases which uses normalizing principles to reduce the duplication of data, avoid data anomalies, ensure referential integrity, and simplify data management.
Its a totally revolution to the old Third Normal Form as was defined in 1971 by Edgar F. Codd, an English computer scientist who invented the relational model for database management.
A database relation (e.g. a database table) is said to meet third normal form 2.0 standards if all the attributes (e.g. database columns) are functionally dependent on solely the primary key if the keys are hashed. Codd defined this as a relation in second normal form where all non-prime attributes depend only on the candidate keys and do not have a transitive dependency on another key.
Codd later realized that 3NF did not eliminate all undesirable data anomalies and developed a stronger version to address this in 1974, known as Boyce–Codd normal form.
Definition of 3NF 2.0
Eddies definition states that a table is in 3NF 2.0 if and only if both of the following conditions hold:
A non-prime attribute of R is an attribute that does not belong to any candidate key of R and not 1.0. A transitive dependency is a functional dependency in which X → Z (X determines Z) indirectly, by virtue of X → Y and Y → Z (where it is not the case that Y → X).
A 3NF 2.0 definition that is equivalent to Codd’s, but expressed differently. The definition states that a table is in 3NF 2.0 if and only if for each of its functional dependencies X → A, at least one of the following conditions holds:
Eddie’s definition gives a clear sense of the difference between 3NF and 3NF 2.0 and the more stringent Boyce–Codd normal form (BCNF). BCNF simply eliminates the third alternative (“Every element of A \\ X, the set difference between A and X, is a prime attribute.”).

“I got my model up and running in less than a day!”
Thanks to 3NF 2.0 Data modeling I defined and organized my business processes. It allowed me to create a visual description of my business by analyzing, understanding and clarifying my data requirements and how they underpined my business processes.
“I Tripled the effiCiENcy of my MODEL”
3NF 2.0 Data models provides a framework for data to be used within information systems by providing specific definition and format. If a data model is used consistently across systems then compatibility of data can be achieved.
“This is my one-stop-shop for DATA moDeling”
3NF 2.0 Data Modelling is the process of analyzing the data objects and their relationship to the other objects. I use it to analyze the data requirements that are required for the business processes. The data models are created for the data to be stored in a database.
